It makes an excellent specimen plant or screen and is very hardy to -20oC when planted in the ground.
Pruning: It can be pruned to your desired height at the end of July when the new stems have sprouted and uncurled it's new leaves. Prune just above a leaf-joint. Easily reaches 3-4 metres tall with no pruning.
In time, for example in the summer of the third year after planting the lower foliage and thin stems can be trimmed off to better show off the lovely stems. This in time encourages the plant to produce thicker stems.

Suggested Plant Uses: Architectural, Japanese gardens, Exotic foliage affect.
Hedging / Screening: Recommended planting density 1 to 2 plants per metre of screen / hedge required.
