Green Panda bamboo. Fargesia robusta Rufa Is one of the most upright bamboos, with lovely dull green straight canes.
The emerging stems are a startling green and show up well against the white stem sheaths in the spring.
This bamboo will reach up to 3 metres in height in time and is a well behaved clump forming bamboo which will not mind growing in a shady spot.
Still quite rare, but very desirable.
This Fargesia is the most tolerant of being placed in a sunny position, however if your spot is more shady it will also grow in partial shade.
Position: full sun to part shade; out of cold, drying winds - especially coastal winds.
Soil: all soils, but avoid waterlogged areas; very dry soils will need extra watering.
Eventual size: This bamboo can grow up to 3 metres, however this may take up to 10 years.
Please note: Fargesia bamboos do not grow as fast as the Phyllostachys types. Fargesia's grow at-least two to three times slower.
