Compact, upright deciduous small tree with mid-green elliptical leaves. Flowers have purple outer petals with creamy coloured interiors in Spring. Flowers freely, but flowers can be damaged by late frosts. Grows best in slightly acidic, fertile, moist soils. Slow growing but very floriferous.
It is fully hard when planted (-15oC), ideally plant in a sheltered position ie. not in a very windy site and out of frost hollows / pockets.
Aspect: Any, full sun to partial shade.
Ultimate height: 2.5–4 metres.
