Arrow Metake japonica Bamboo - Large plants
Pseudosasa japonica aka Arundinaria japonica, Bambusa japonica Metake.
Is a hardy vigorous and tough, evergreen bamboo to 4m in height, forming a thicket of green canes with copious narrow, shiny green leaves to 25cm in length.
Cultivation: Grow in a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. To maintain vigour apply a balanced fertiliser at least once each growing season.
Pruning: Remove spent stems and thin to show canes to best effect.
Soil: Acid, Alkaline or Neutral. Moist but well-drained or well-drained. Clay, Loam or Sand.
Aspect: East, West or South facing. Exposed or Sheltered. Metake will tolerate being planted in shady areas
