Magnolia Yulan tree 
Magnolia denudata (grafted) is a large deciduous shrub or small tree, with fragrant, cup-shaped soft rose pink when closed opening to light pink and then fading to white flowers 8cm in length, appearing before the ovate leaves from mid to late Spring.
It is fully hard when planted (-15oC), ideally plant in a sheltered position ie not in a very windy site and out of frost pockets.
Soil: Fertile moist well-drained soil - humus-rich. Neutral to acid soil. Mulch annually in the Spring with a manure / leaf-mould mix.
Aspect: Any, full sun to partial shade.
Introduced from China in 1789.
